SMØRBRØD stands for a local product in which we only use pure, organic and local quality ingredients.
Our sourdough breads are based on the following basic ingredients: our rye sourdough starter, flour from the local mill, water and sea salt.
Only quality ingredients are used for the biscuits to offer you the best taste: local organic flour and oats, Callebaut chocolate, local butter and free-range eggs.

Our sourdough breads are only baked to order, so we avoid wasted bread.
Therefore, order your bread one day ahead until 10am for pickup the day after (Wed/Fri/Sat pickup) or for delivery of your order on Wednesday/Saturday afternoon. This gives our starter the necessary time to grow, and the loaves to rise at their own rhythm. Slow baking, to the rhythm of our sourdough starter "Zuren Tuur".
We are happy to return to the traditional way of baking bread, for us the choice was easy: first and foremost we find sourdough to be a very tasty kind of bread. In addition, it stores longer than yeasted bread and that with only the use of pure ingredients. Moreover, sourdough bread is also easier to digest due to the long fermentation and rising process and another plus is that a slice of sourdough is very filling. As far as we are concerned, therefore, only advantages!

It started with a nice hobby in the winter of 2019. Making that first sourdough starter. Frustrating at first, but with an oh-so-beautiful result.
After a lot of practice, beautiful bread rolls started to emerge from the rye mother dough. Those sandwiches were enjoyed by the family, and of course by ourselves. Could our Tomas have a hidden quality here? Perhaps...
